WOOD HAULING AND NATIVE LIVELIHOODS
On some parts of Tribal lands in the US four-corners region, over 80% of people depend on wood harvested from nearby forests for their daily needs. Some of these important forests are on Tribal land, and some are on federal public land. To better understand how to plan for future access to this important resource, this large-scale, multi-year study examines many aspects of the cultural and economic importance of access to wood for firewood and building materials.
